THE young athletes from Mount House School enjoyed a highly successful day at the Kelly Trophy athletics meeting, when 12 prep schools from Devon and Cornwall competed in a full programme of track and field events at open and U12 levels.

The Mount House boys won both the open and the U12 team trophies, the girls won the U12 team cup.

The outstanding performance came from Ed Barlow who broke a record that had stood for 30 years when he won the open 800 metres in 2 minutes 19 seconds. Mount House boys also won gold in the open events for the long jump and triple jump (Ralph Lopes), high jump (Jamie Anderson), and the sprint relay. Mount House won the open boys' team cup

.In the open girls there were golds for Lizzie Fearnley in the javelin, Oenone Rogers in the shot and Lucy Walliker in the high jump. The girls won the open girls trophy.

Also Alexander D'Entrecasteaux won gold in the U12 boys' category. Jonty Walliker won silver in the javelin and bronze in the high jump, and Joe Beck took bronze in the 100m

In the U12 girls competition, Emma Manton won golds in the long jump, discus and javelin, while Jessica Huntington won the 1500m and high jump.

A gold for the U12 girls' relay team and a bronze for Jenny Guy in the shot saw Mount House win the U12 girls' team cup.
