Hatherleigh Fire Station officer Owen Ravenscroft said the driver had swerved to avoid a vehicle which had hit black ice and lost control: ?We had numerous minor accidents on Monday morning due to black ice on the roads. It catches people unawares and I would advise them to drive with extra caution ? slowly and carefully.? A motorist was taken to hospital after being freed from a van following a road traffic collision near Folly Gate last Friday. The acident involving an articulated lorry and a van occurred on the A386, one mile south of Folly Gate at around 11.30am. Two fire appliances from Okehampton attended and used power rescue tools to free the passenger.
