BAT?s Badminton Club ?A? team recently played two further matches in Division 2 of the Plymouth and District Badminton League and recorded two further victories. In the match against Builders Badminton Club BAT?s were determined to repeat the away win they had achieved only ten days previously. Once again the men?s rubbers went the way of BAT?s and the ladies? rubbers the way of Builders though this time Builders were made to work much harder with Frances Ward and sister Becky and Heather Cooper almost taking two of the rubbers. Once again it came down to the mixed doubles rubbers to decide the overall result. James Cooper and Frances Ward have now played senior county badminton for long enough not to let the loss of a few points worry them and they won their rubber. Julian Cooper, playing with his mother Heather again, proved too powerful for the Builders pair. Alan Berry and Becky Ward then completed the three mixed doubles wins. At the end of the evening BAT?s had won the match 6-3. The BAT?s ?A? match against Callington proved to be a one sided match with BAT?s once again taking all nine points. James Cooper and Alan Berry found themselves to be 5-13 down in one game but they soon turned it around and won the second game comfortably. The first game of the ladies rubbers proved to be the most difficult one but once any nerves were settled all three ladies? rubbers were won by BAT?s. Having already won the match BAT?s confirmed their dominance by taking all three mixed doubles rubbers with few difficulties. A 9-0 win confirms their current status at the top of Division 2. With only two matches left to play before the end of the season BAT?s only have Greenbank Badminton Club to play firstly away and then at home.
