AFTER many successful years at The Who'd Have Thought It', Milton Combe one of the region's most popular folk clubs is on the move to a bigger venue.
From Sunday, March 26, — under its new name 'Folk On The Moor' — the club will be entertaining audiences at The Burrator Inn, Dousland.
The move will allow the booking of even more well-known names from the folk circuit.
Folk on the Moor committee member Graham Searle said the guest performers on the opening night, Sunday, would be the gifted Jez Lowe and his band plus Bad Pennies.
'Jez hails from the north east and his poignant and witty material is admired across the international world of folk music,' he said.
The following Sunday, April 2 brings local duo Speakeasy to the club. This features Geoff Lakeman from Buckland Monachorum and Steve 'Scats' Redman's presentation of songs and music from the Jazz era.
'They will feature the music of Fats Waller, Cole Porter, Jerome Kern and more — all happily colliding with true Devonian humour,' said Graham.
'And there is much to look forward to after these two opening acts. Some Sundays are singers' nights when a wonderful diversity of local performers will be on offer.'
Other guests booked to play at Folk on the Moor's new location include the legendary Cyril Tawney, Vin Garbutt, Mike Silver and Gina le Faux.
