Tavistock U18s 4

Tamerton Foliot U18s 1

THESE two teams have had similar results this season and for much of the first half the game was end to end.

With the teams locked on 0-0, Tamerton broke down the left and Montgomery, playing his best game of the season in goal, caught an advancing attacking player in the area, gave away a penalty and was duly booked.  He immediately redeemed himself with a superb save from the spot kick.  Tavistock continued to attack for the remainder of the half but the final ball was not quite accurate enough for the majority of the attacks and when it was, the finishing was wayward.  Half time 0-0.

The second half saw Tavistock up the pace and Doyle missed from in front of an open goal — however he soon redeemed himself when from a Pridham header Doyle won the race to the ball and placed it between the keepers legs to give the home side the lead.

However Tavistock allowed the away team back in quickly and gave away a penalty from a foul by, man of the match and debutant Matcham.

The Tamerton forward though put the penalty wide.  Soon after Ayres for Tavistock took the ball on the right of the penalty area and chipped a perfect ball in to Doyle to volley the ball into the net to make it 2-0.

Further work from Pridham out wide ended with a Robins goal at the far post to make the score 3-0.  Tamerton did not give up and forced a number of corners and from one of these Tavistock conceded a goal.  Tamerton continued to press and good defending from captain Blatchford, Cribbett, Case and Phil Wearing kept the opposition out.

Paul Wearing, on for his injured brother Phil, turned up on the far post to head in another great cross from the right to put Tavistock up 4-1.
