THOSE who live and work on Dartmoor, as well as visitors to the national park, are being given the chance to monitor the performance of the Dartmoor National Park Authority, and have been invited to comment on a performance plan just published by the Authority.

The Authority is required by the Government to undertake best value appraisal to review the economy, efficiency and effectiveness of the functions it carries out. As part of this process, the Authority has published its Performance Plan 2002-03.

The plan sets out goals, targets, action plans for the future, and details of the Authority's performance.

Members of the public are invited to comment on the plan by the end of September.

Chief Executive of the National Park Authority Nick Atkinson said: 'This plan has been written for all those who have an interest in Dartmoor National Park and the work of the National Park Authority including those who live and work in the area, who visit here as day trippers or on holiday, and our working partners and other stakeholders in our work.

'It is the main way by which we report to the public on the efficiency and effectiveness of our services and the way which we intend to improve them in the future.'

Full copies of the plan are available free of charge from Dartmoor National Park Authority, Parke, Bovey Tracey, Newton Abbot, Devon, TQ13 9JQ or from the website at http://www.dartmoor-npa.gov.uk">www.dartmoor-npa.gov.uk
