Children can cook something tasty to take home when the Cooking Bus comes to Waitrose, Okehampton, next week.

The Focus of Food Cooking Bus, supported by Waitrose, tours the country opening its doors to groups of teachers and pupils.

It pulls up at Okehampton on Tuesday for three days — offering morning and afternoon cookery sessions for groups of 12 children.

Two Focus on Food advisory teachers, as well as partners from Waitrose, Okehampton, will be running four sessions on the bus for local children. The sessions are Tuesday, July 31 from 1.15pm to 2.30pm; Wednesday from 10.15am to 11.30am and 1.15pm to 2.20pm; and on Thursday, August 2 from 10.15am to 11.30am.

Nicola Davies, from Waitrose business marketing, said: ' If you are aged between seven and 12 you can hop on board the Cooking Bus. Parents whose children want to come along can book a cookery session at the branch.'

The children will be preparing a mouth-watering Victoria sandwich cake and fruit kebabs using ingredients supplied from Waitrose.

Mrs Davies said: 'It's all hands on deck. First of all the children watch while the Focus on Food team show how it is done.

'Then it is time for action. Teachers and assistants will help the children in their cookery. And at the end of the session the children can take their creations home with them.'
