A FAMILY rediscovered its mining roots when a group of cousins held a reunion at Morwellham Quay where their grandfather was manager of the copper mine almost 100 years ago. Some 34 members of the Cloke family came from near and far to uncover some of their family history. Frank Cloke worked at the mine for over 10 years, until it closed in the 1920s but continued living at Morwellham with his wife Jane until 1950. The Clokes had five children and 11 grandchildren ? the most famous family member being England World Cup rugby winning prop Julian White from Okehampton who was playing for Leicester and could not attend the reunion. During their visit, the cousins were given a guided tour of the mine and saw the archives. They recognised numerous relatives and friends who lived in the village.
