OKEHAMPTON men undertook a high rope challenge walking across a telegraph pole suspended forty feet in the air recently as part of a outdoor challenge initiative run by a town church. Inspiration ? Church of the Nations, based in Okehampton, has spent six months working with the male folk of the church through a programme known as ?Men of Valour?, The course encouraged men to study and discuss various subjects as well as providing some hard challenges. Last Thursday, bible study and discussions on the role of men in modern society were left to one side as the group tackled outdoor challenges at the Heatree Activity Centre, at Manaton on Dartmoor. The instructors devised various challenges. One (pictured left) was a jenga type challenge which involved building a tower from milk crates, which two of the team had to stand on top of. All the men accepted the challenge and completed the course, which developed the participants skills of supporting and encouraging the other members of their team.
