A WHOPPING £63,000 has been raised by a group of 16 people, which includes a member of the Tavistock Round Table. Mike Hooper, of Mike Hooper architects, and the team, climbed Kilimanjaro between Saturday, October 13 and Sunday, October 21 to raise money for Whizz-Kidz, a disabled children?s charity. This is the second time Mr Hooper has been part of an event to raise money for Whizz-Kidz ? last year he trekked the Great Wall of China. The nine-day trip started at a height of 1,800 metres and they gradually worked their way up to the top, at 5,850 metres. Only 14 people got to the summit. He said: ?It was very enjoyable but very strenuous ? during the week we walked 65 miles, and 70 per cent of the trek is spent climbing.? This is Mr Hooper?s last adventure for Tavistock Round Table before he leaves in March 2008.
