A COFFEE morning and sale is being held at Horrabridge Village Hall next month in aid of a newly formed charity for mothers and children in Tibet. Mary Coslett, a midwife from Plymouth, has recently returned from Tibet where the mortality rate among newborn babies is reported to be one in ten. When Mrs Coslett returned she set up the charity, 'Midwifery with Altitude'. The event is being held on Saturday, February 16 from 10am to noon and will feature a white elephant and jumble sale and a bric-a-brac stall. Entrance is £1 per person, which includes a coffee. Midwifery with Altitude aims to help communities by bringing them improved hygiene and a better understanding of health issues, both by teaching local people and helping to establish a nursing school, where local people can be trained to spread the knowledge back to their own villages.
