TICKET sales for this year?s Sticklepath Midsummer Ball, scheduled for tomorrow (Friday) have been going better than usual, organisers have confirmed.

Having raised more than £1,000 at last year?s event for the new Okehampton Hospital, organisers Sticklepath Sports Club are hoping a similar amount can be donated this year to the village hall.

Despite generous grants from various sources, the hall committee is still short of cash to complete the entire refurbishment project, phase one of which is due to start in early July.

On Sunday a treasure hunt in and around the village is also being organised before the afternoon?s tea dance. Starting from the Taw River car park, the event should keep everyone fully occupied finding clues set out within easy walking distance. Prizes will be awarded to both adults and children.

The tea dance on Sunday from 2pm to 5pm in the ball marquee on Finch Foundry Green, will feature ?Mint Julep? a jazz and blues band from Exeter. The music will include medleys suitable for dancing and listening. Unforeseen circumstances have forced the National Trust to cancel the craft fair set for Saturday afternoon, June 21.

Tickets for the ball are still available at the public houses of South Tawton, Sticklepath and South Zeal, and at Donald?s of Okehampton as well as the South Zeal and Sticklepath Stores.
