WALKHAM Valley recorded their first win of the season last Wednesday when they narrowly defeated Carvel Computers at Walkhampton. Batting first, Walkham amassed an impressive 128 from 20 overs with R Berry 26no, J. Vincent 25no, G. Vincent 13no, S.Ralph 12, and new boy Bill Tynan 13 doing the damage. Walkham only lost thee wickets, one each being taken by Sharp, Smith and Serpell. Requiring a run rate of more than 6 per over, Carvel were pinned down in the early stage by fine bowling from R.Berry and J Vincent. However Walkham relaxed the pressure and Carvel came back into the game and were soon chasing the required score to win. Lewis and Serpell both retired at 25 not out and Carvel required 12 runs off the last over to win. Mean bowling by Hills meant they could only score three giving Walkham the match by 8 runs. Hills, R Berry and J Vincent all took wickets for Walkham.
