IN response to the article 'Pool conditions are just not good enough' (July 10), may I refute this statement. The pool should not be demolished. It is a great asset to townsfolk and visitors, from babies to over ninety year olds; it is used by very many people, for teaching, leisure, training, fun and for health improvement. The facilities have been improved, including a new boiler system, the new lockers and changing rooms are good, as is the storage for provision of all the water toys the 'littles' can use. Cleaning could be improved, but it is also up to users to place empty cartons, bottles etc in the bins provided. On a personal note, I had heart surgery a few months ago and it is thanks to the care and skill of the aquarobics teachers that I have regained my strength in a pleasurable environment amongst many friends.
