THE mayor of Okehampton this week paid tribute to the fantastic work carried out by students at Okehampton College during the charity music evening held in the Charter Hall last Friday.
Cllr Christine Marsh chose the college to be her charity for the year and the musical evening featured food prepared by the students and musical entertainment featuring the college?s Big Band and other guest performers from the school.
Cllr Marsh said: ?It was absolutely out of this world. Everybody who went said how much they enjoyed it and the standard of food was incredible.
?People are always running down youth today but here was something fantastic carried out by young people.
?They worked really hard ? some of them started at 8.30 in the morning and they were still on their feet after it ended.?
The event raised nearly £1,000, which will be put towards supporting music at Okehampton College.
