FANTASTIC — that was the reaction of organisers following a highly successful bring and buy sale in Tavistock Pannier Market to raise money for ShelterBox. The pannier market traders organised the sale to help those affected by the natural disasters in Burma and China. The event was so successful it was extended to two days, with a huge array of goods being donated and sold. Mike Souttar, deputy market reeve, said: 'The original ideal to help the people of Burma and China was from trader Graham Evans — ShelterBox was chosen as the best way to ensure donations were put to the best use. 'Traders and the public donated a vast quantity of goods — it was fantastic.' Mike paid special tribute to everyone who made such an effort to set up and man the bring and buy stall, particularly Alison Ewings, Nick Bedle, Gary Hammond, Paul Donnington and Graham Evans. The final grand tally was an amazing £1,910, which is enough to buy three ShelterBoxes and a quantity of tents. ABOVE: town mayor Robin Pike and his wife, Diana, the mayoress, with one of the boxes.
