AFTER pounding the streets of the capital for charity last month Pierre Morel has returned to Tavistock for a well-earned rest.
The West Devon Borough Council head of IT raised more than £200 for Cancer Research in his first ever marathon.
He said: ?The London Marathon was a completely new experience, and a very enjoyable one.
?What makes this race a top event is all the people taking part: organisers, charity sponsors and the public.
?You have 30,000 runners and maybe 500,000 people cheering you on as you run past ? people?s generosity is everywhere; the most touching scene I saw was a toddler who gave up his chocolate bar to a runner who needed extra energy!?
Pierre ran the 26.2 miles in four hours and one minute ? and says he owes a big thank you to family, friends, neighbours, colleagues and, of course, his doctor ? for their support.
He said: ?If one person runs a marathon, it is a personal achievement, if more than 30,000 people run a marathon it is a statement that fantastic things can happen.?
