A WINKLEIGH couple regularly seen pounding the streets with their Alsation Sasha are nearing the end of their training for this year's London Marathon.
Rob and Jenny Clark are running many miles a week in preparation for the big event, which takes place on April 16.
'I'm up to about 30 a week plus now, then I stop running on the last week and hit the big race after that,' said Rob, who is 52 years old.
He said the main problem is finding somewhere reasonably flat to run — although the hills don't seem to affect Sasha.
'I don't run very fast and she looks as though she's walking — she's never asked for trainers yet!' Rob said.
The couple are raising funds for the little-known Prada Willi Syndrome Charity.
'It mainly affects children,' said Rob.
'One of the disorders they suffer from is they become very overweight and develop aggressive tendencies — it's a life threatening disease.'
Rob and Jenny offered to raise money for the charity when they ran the New York marathon two years ago, after a friend's child had been diagnosed with the disease.
This time the charity approached the couple.
