Carlsberg Peninsula South West division one west Callington Town 1 Wendron United 2 A YOUNG and inexperienced Callington side paid the price for losing their way in the second period as a well organised Wendron side came from behind to grab all three points at a rain sodden Ginsters Marshfield Parc on Saturday. Callington were first to show and their early dominance was rewarded on 10 minutes when Chris Faulkner fired past Brian Scoffin in the United goal to give the home side the lead. Town continued in good form with a fluid passing game that belied their youth but could not add to their tally before the break. As the second half progressed, Wendron, with their more experienced team, began to press and Simon Carter fired home the equaliser just after the hour. Ten minutes later and Mike O?Neill netted what turned out to be the winner. Callington ended the game with 10 men after the controversial sending off of Pete Floyd. Manager Micky Hunt, despite being disappointed with throwing away three points, did have cause for positiveness as some of his new charges showed a bit of the promise that will surely aid the side as the season progresses. l The Callington Football Club lottery for August was won by M Young, who won £100. Other winners were A James (£50), M Rookley (£25), N Blair (£15) and N Smith (£10).
