MEMBERS of Bere Alston Trekkers (BATS) have been pounding the streets of the West Devon village helping deliver the Bere Peninsula Community Plan questionnaire.

The survey form has been compiled by local residents over the last two years, and now, thanks to grant funding, it has been printed as a twelve page document.

The village, the largest in Devon, covers a considerable area and the group appealed for help with distribution from the fleet of athletes.

Dotty King of BATS arranged for club members to provide the legwork and baked splendid cakes as well to feed the hungry hordes after their nocturnal exertions.

The Peninsula contains 1,460 homes and BATs were able to deliver around 1,200 copies of the questionnaire. The balance has now been delivered to the remainder, including many outlying properties by members of the Community Plan group, which is appealing to all residents to return their filled in copies before October 31.

The information gleaned by the process will be used to help determine the wishes of the local residents as to the future of their community.
