THERE will be a chance to try out chair yoga and dabble with a paintbrush at an information afternoon designed to help older residents and carers living in Chagford and the surrounding area next week.

During the afternoon visitors will have the opportunity to find out about the wealth of services available for elderly people and their carers.

The Making Life Easier information afternoon is designed to do just that ? make life easier! It could be the opportunity for people to find out if they are entitled to pension credit or how to get support if you are a carer for an elderly relative.

You might be looking for an activity to fill your spare time, if so, then advice and help will be available from tutors from Adult and Community Learning and a variety of agencies including the Volunteer Bureau, Upstream, Help the Aged, and Age Concern.

Other exhibitors will have aids and equipment available that visitors can practically try out for themselves.

The information day takes place next Wednesday, September 22, at the Jubilee Hall in Chagford, between 1pm and 4pm.

Information on health care will also be available on the day and there will be a chance for visitors to check out their blood pressure and have a diabetes check.

The Devon In Touch Roadshow bus will be parked outside the Jubilee Hall from 11am, for visitors interested in learning more about computers and the internet.

The bus also has a wide range of information and details on many community organisations, clubs and societies in Devon.

As well as learning about available supporting services, visitors on the day can also pick up a free light bulb, have a free cup of tea and a cake and buy a raffle ticket during the afternoon.

If you need transport to attend, this can be arranged through MoreCare, contact Sue Price 01647 432451.
