A DATE has finally been set to shave off the trademark moustache of 56-year-old Roger Cudlip, landlord of the Tom Cobley Inn, Spreyton.
Roger grew his moustache at the age of 18 and, on January 29 will be saying goodbye to it after 38 years, to raise money for charity.
Roger is taking the brave step to help Cheriton and Tedburn Young Farmers raise money for CHICKS (Country Holidays for Inner City Kids).
The young farmers need to raise £1,000 in order for Roger to go through with the shave, half of which will go to CHICKS and half to Roger's chosen charity, the Devon Air Ambulance.
Roger managed to raise £250 from customers on the first night of telling people about the event.
The shave-off will take place at Cheriton and Tedburn Young Farmers' disco in Spreyton Village Hall on January 29, with proceeds of the evening going to the charity.
Gemma Bowden, chairman of Cheriton and Tedburn Young Farmers, said: 'We are asking for as much support as possible, as Roger has had his well-known moustache since the age of 18 and we are confident that we can raise the money to shave it off, provided we get as much help as possible.'
The Young Farmers have raised £5,307 over the last two years for The Children's Hospice South West, and this year, have raised £2,000 so far for CHICKS.
If you would like to support the event, you can donate money at The Tom Cobley Inn, or contact Steph on 07526 176815 to give direct donations.
