THE Tavistock Real Cheese Fair is back, following the successful inaugural event last year. More than 3,000 cheese fiends entered the first ever cheese fair at Tavistock Town Hall to taste the British cheeses ? and it proved a ?huge? success. The event has once again been organised by Elise and Gary Jungheim of Country Cheeses in Tavistock, and is this year sponsored by Cropwell Bishop, the makers of the finest blue Stilton. The cheese fair celebrates artisan cheese in all its forms; cows, goats, ewes and Romanian water buffalos. The weekend will feature a variety of cheeses from the West Country, as well as two brewers of real ale, two Devon wine producers, Vernon from Countryman?s Cider and a jazz band. Gary said: ?There are many food shows now but we wanted to do something different. ?The Tavistock Real Cheese Fair gives, not only a taste of the very best cheeses, it also invites the public into the world, and way of life of our artisan cheesemakers and those who nurture and mature these wondrous cheeses ? something we feel to be most pertinent to the West Country.? The event is being held from 9am to 5pm on Saturday, August 25 and Sunday, August 26 from 10am to 4pm. Everyone is welcome to the free event.
