YOUNG majorettes were the target of egg-flinging youngsters during last Saturday's carnival procession in Tavistock.
Tavistock Twirlers were marching down Plymouth Road near Sunningdale Nursery when the incident happened.
Bridget Hollett, whose five-year-old daughter Eleanor was marching in the parade, said: 'Thankfully they actually missed, but the safety aspect is frightening — the youngest one is only three.
'It was probably just high jinks but they ought to have thought of what the consequences could be.'
Mrs Hollett was also concerned the eggs could have stained the youngsters new uniforms, bought recently at a cost of around £2,000.
'Apart from that it was a great day — the little ones put on such a good effort and marched such a long way,' she said.
