FINAL results for 2017’s drilling programme at Redmoor Mine at Kelly Bray have been released and show an ‘exciting ‘major advance’ for the project.

Australian Mining Company New Age Exploration (NAE) acquired an exploration licence and the right to develop and operate a mine at Redmoor in 2012. Cornwall Resources Ltd (CRL) was subsequently set up — a joint venture between NAE and Strategic Minerals — for the Redmoor Tin-Tungsten mine project.

And on Monday (December 11), NAE announced the last results from the phase 2 drilling programme, undertaken by CRL, which have been ‘encouraging’.

NAE managing director Gary Fietz said the results showed high-grade tin and tungsten assay results within the sheeted vein system (SVS) — considerably higher grades than previously reported.

‘Results of hole CRD019, which returned the best results of the programme from 180m below the depth of previous drilling, are particularly exciting. This significantly extends the potential for the resource size and grade to improve at depth which we believe represents a major advance for the project.

‘These new results have encouraged us to start looking at how we can expedite the project development, with the next step of completing the resource update in the first quarter of 2018 now underway.’

CRL continues to prioritise maintenance of a close working relationship with the local community and local councils. It reported that no complaints were received during the programme and that Cornwall Council mineral planners and environmental health officers had confirmed their satisfaction with how CRL implemented its 2017 programme.

CRL said it was now ‘looking forward to continuing to build positive relationships going forwards as the project develops’ and ‘would like to thank the local community for their support’.

Callington Town Council Portreeve Mark Smith said that the results looked really positive and would be a boost to the town.

‘Redmoor tin is very high quality, industrious tin, which makes it very desirable.

‘From the town council’s point of view we are looking forward to 2018 to see what this project holds with the continuation of job prospects.

‘We will continue to hold a balanced view and listen to what the community has to say with the project.’
