Carlsberg South Western League

Holsworthy 1

Tavistock 1

BOTH teams formed a guard of honour for Tavistock keeper Andy Meeds who was making his 200th consecutive league appearance. He also made his debut and his 100th appearance at Upcott Field.

Despite the Lambs missing James Cole and Graeme Kirkup they fielded an impressive line up and an equally impressive bench.

They got off to the perfect start with a goal inside three minutes when Lee Doncaster laid the ball off to Jeff Babb who sent John Gosling down the wing. His low cross found Doncaster at the far post to slot home.

The Magpies almost levelled immediately, but Nathan Blamey got in the way of Alan Clarke?s goalbound header. Another move involving Doncaster, Gosling and Babb saw the latter shoot just wide of the post.

The home side rarely threatened during the first half as Doncaster went close and Holsworthy?s keeper Adrian Lamerton brought off a great save from a Paul Smith strike.

The Lambs were unfortunate not to go two up after 50 minutes when Babb turned in the Holsworthy half and gave himself room to send in a shot that cannoned off the crossbar and away.

In the 75th minute the Magpies hit the Lambs woodwork. But it was not until the sixth minute of injury time before the Lambs defence was breached.

Penprase?s free kick was crossed by Rowe for Thorne to steer home at the far post for an undeserved equaliser.

A further two minutes of play continued before the final whistle to bring about a disappointing result for the Lambs.
