KELLY College fielded the largest team from the South West in this year's Devizes to Westminster canoe race. Taking place over the Easter weekend, seven teams of 15 pupils from Kelly College took on the gruelling 125-mile Devizes to Westminster Canoe Race, rowing from the Wiltshire market town to the finishing line at Westminster bridge in London. In total, 358 boats took part, 64 of which were single paddlers and 62 were junior doubles, with Kelly College making up seven of those junior doubles. The 'magnificent seven' pairs of canoeists from Kelly College were greeted at the finishing line by their headmaster, Dr Graham Hawley. He said: 'The Devizes to Westminster race is a tremendous event for our pupils to take part in. The commitment that has to be shown through training and the teamwork required are integral parts of the Kelly College ethos. All the pupils and staff involved should be congratulated on completing an experience that will stay with them for the rest of their lives.'
