A FUN-FILLED day of events is promised in North Tawton next month as the Midsummer Madness Festival takes off.
The event on June 16 begins with an official opening by the leader of the council, Gill Hoggins, accompanied by the town crier.
There will be an open air market with stalls outside the town hall and more inside.
At 2pm there will be fun, games and dancing for the children at the Teddy Bears Picnic, where youngsters are invited to join in with their bears and a packed lunch.
Sarah Down, one of the event organisers, said: 'We will provide the games, the music and crisps and a drink — entry is free but we charge 30p per child to leave! Teddy bears are optional but parents are obligatory.'
The bar and barbecue begins at 8pm and the band Quango will be providing live music from 8.30pm.
During the interval the winners of the colouring competition, quiz and lucky programme will be drawn, plus the grand raffle prize winner.
'This will be a chance to gather your breath and replenish your glasses before Quango take up the challenge once more and help you dance the evening away!' said Sarah.
