AFTER a number of years absence, the 'Letterbox Meet' will be returning to Princetown.

The event will enable letterboxers to meet with friends, join the 100 Club and register new boxes.

There will be a number of stalls at the meet including Ink Print, Loricraft and Kountry Kit, where visitors can purchase catalogues, rubber stamps and associated walking equipment, and there will also be stalls selling books, pictures and charity letterbox walks, which are an ideal introduction to letterboxing on Dartmoor.

The Dartmoor Magazine, Dartmoor News, Dartmoor Society and Rescue Group will also be attending the meet.

The return of the event is being welcomed by the Letterboxing fraternity and pub's and cafés in the village, as the meet will bring in business from the visitors.

Letterboxing is similar to orienteering, where a small pot — the letterbox — containing a stamp and a visitors' book is hidden on the moor, and a clue is written to lead people to its position. When the letterbox is found, the letterboxer takes a copy of the stamp as well as leaving their personal print in the visitors' book.

The Spring Letterbox Meet will take place on Sunday March 28 at Princetown Community Centre, starting at 10am.

Anyone wishing to put out a charity letterbox walk in the spring is asked to obtain permission from Dartmoor National Park in plenty of time, by contacting Sue Bishop on 01626 831006 or visit the website http://www.dartmoor-npa.gov.uk">www.dartmoor-npa.gov.uk
