TAVISTOCK Area Support Services is once again organising the Big Charity Bonanza, to be held in Tavistock's Pannier Market later this month.

This year is the 24th Bonanza and 15 charities will be represented. The event allows charities to come together to raise much needed funds for their individual charities supporting local causes.

Bryan Podmore, organiser of the event, said: 'This year we aim for a bigger and better event, with even more high quality goods on sale at very reasonable prices.

'All charities are finding it tough in this economic climate and this is an opportunity for local charities to come together to raise money so we can continue to support local issues.

'Local charities understand the needs of local people and are sometimes overlooked when it comes to funding, but we are here year on year working to support local people in so many ways.'

This year, organisers are still looking for a local sponsor for the event, which takes place on June 29, and they also need any presents that people have received and have stored away for a special occasion.

If anyone has any such gifts, please consider donating them to TASS so it can continue with its work supporting older and disabled people living in the area.
