Thorverton were level after a friendly bounce fell kindly to their striker, who finished clinically. The last 15 minutes of the first half saw Argyle and Thorverton competing for dominance. But Okehampton wanted to win the exchanges more than their opponents. With time running out before the interval Argyle were awarded a free kick, close to the left hand touchline. Vernon floated the kick into the box and Callaghan was there again to give him his second goal of the afternoon. The second half saw Okehampton push for the winner. Drew, Pengelly and Gibbs started to overrun Thorverton in midfield and chances fell to Sandford and Callaghan but they were unable to finish off their opponents because of good goalkeeping. Thorverton saw a way back into the match, and their direct style of football was their saviour. A long punt by their goalkeeper broke kindly for Thorverton and they were on level terms again. Argyle competed hard in all areas for the last five minutes, to make sure they left with a well deserved point.
