AS with all sporting events the weather has played an important part in the past month?s fixtures for the ladies at Tavistock Golf Club. The sun shone for the annual battle between the sexes when the Tavistock Golf Club men played the ladies for the Callard Cup. The cup was presented by Paul and Francis Callard in 1992 when both Paul and Francis were captains. The ladies were beaten by the men but have a chance to redeem themselves in the next match in September when the ladies challenge the men. The July Stableford was played in conjunction with the Alice Rose Trophy. The trophy was presented to the club by past ladies captain Wendy Hanwell in memory of her granddaughter.
