Tavistock Ladies 1st XI 3

Plym Valley 0

THIS game of hockey opened with strong attacking play from Tavistock?s Emma White and Lisa Butler, who linked well with the midfield of Steph Mills and Laura Stapleton.

Laura Armstrong took the ball into the D and took a hefty strike at the keeper.

The opposition were quick to put Tavistock under pressure and Susannah Boulle and Fiona Dunn worked hard to break down their attack.

A few short corners were awarded to the opposition but the speed of Tavistock?s defence and the watchful eye of keeper, Soozi Baggs, prevented them from scoring.

Sandra Collar and Zoe Viggers played a vital role in marking the opposition out of the game and although these two players did not have a lot of touches on the ball they prevented Plym from using some of their strongest players.

Tavistock opened the second half with a more determined approach. A good ball in from Gaspar allowed Armstrong to score her second of the match.

White made some good passes to Mills and Dunn and did a cracking shot into the D.

Boulle got on the end of it and narrowely missed the goal. Stapleton worked as hard, feeding the ball into the D and was denied by the umpire from scoring an excellent goal.

Mills took a free hit outside the D, White pushed it across the circle to Butler who slotted it past the keeper.

Player of the match: Lisa Butler.

This week Tavistock are home against Chudleigh.
