CALLINGTON? Amateur Drama Society has been learning some tricks from the professionals when it comes to stage make-up.

A workshop was held at the group's theatre in Biscombes Lane from a make-up artist who has been involved in theatre, films and television.

The course was designed to help attendees, who came from all parts of the county, to develop their stage skills and learn the correct application of make-up for theatre.

There were demonstrations of various characters, from classic to aged characters and later individuals applied make-up to each other to create a character which included an old Victorian hag, a witch, a geisha girl, pantomime characters, catwalk model and a glamorous classic face.

Finally everyone proceeded to the stage to see the effects of their work under stage lighting, which is entirely different when comparing with fluorescent light.

Callington drama group was established in 1949 and has the wonderful advantage of having its own theatre also known as the PrimRaf Theatre.
