OKEHAMPTON Library will be closed to the public for three days this month while its front windows are replaced. The windows, which are currently in a poor state of repair, will be replaced with like-for-like, owing to the library's location in a conservation area. The cost of the work, which will take place between Monday March 19 and Wednesday March 21, is estimated at around £10,000. Devon County Council executive member for culture Cllr Sheila Hobden apologised for any inconvenience that would be caused to users: 'We regret that it is necessary to close any library, even for a short time, but on this occasion we have chosen dates which we hope will produce the least amount of inconvenience.' The library is normally closed on Monday mornings and Wednesday afternoons, so users will effectively only miss out on two days of library opening. Cllr Hobden said the new windows will offer 'a huge improvement, which I hope will add to the comfort and enjoyment of library users in the future.'
