IS the horse world in the process of succumbing to Europeanisation like so many other people? ? or is it just those responsible for the equestrian classes at the Okehampton Show?

What on earth is meant in the show catalogue by a pony ?exceeding 128cm and not exceeding 138cm?? Reference to the reverse side of a tape measure shows that this means ?exceeding 12.2hh and not exceeding 13.2hh? ? or thereabouts. Why not say so?

When you get to the jumping classes the fence heights are quoted normally ? 2'3", 2'6" etc.

I am tempted to say that having a mixture of Imperial and metric measurements in the same catalogue is even worse than quoting just metric ones ? but not seriously!

Can we go back to proper heights next year?
