A ?LIVE? concert by legendary master of the blues guitar, Walter Trout next month, marks a musical ?coup? for the Wharf, Tavistock. American-born Walter, currently touring the USA and Europe with his band ?The Radicals?, was ranked sixth in a recent BBC radio poll to select the top 20 greatest guitarists of all time. This was an unusual accolade for a non-British performer ? Walter was born in New Jersey and he now makes his home in California. It has taken the management of The Wharf ten years to secure the appearance of the Blues? star, who has been described as a ?Guitar Great in the forefront of musical history?. Walter Trout has played alongside some of the most famous names in Blues music, including Big Mama Thornton, John Lee Hooker and John Mayall and the Bluesbreakers. Since 1989 he has performed live to rave reviews all over the world, often playing as many as 200 concerts a year. Walter?s European fans have coined the term ?hardcore blues? for his unique brand of playing, which has become a showcase for his great song-writing, ?blistering? guitar riffs and inspiring solos. Walter Trout and The Radicals will perform at The Wharf on Thursday October 20 at 8pm.
