THERE are just a few days left to nominate famous West Devon haunts, businesses and beauty spots for inclusion in the new Devon version of Monopoly, due to be launched later this year.

And according to the game's producers, Devon is bucking the trend with the most popular spot being the bargain basement Old Kent Road, rather than ritzy Mayfair.

Devon Monopoly investor David Sommer said: 'Devon's Old Kent Road has been oversubscribed many fold. We are being offered wheelbarrow loads of money for it — and I don't mean Monopoly money either!

'The new board will reflect the hearts and minds of Devon and the length and breadth of the country — that's why we are polling the people who know best, the Devon public.'

Mr Sommer said Smeaton's Tower on Plymouth Hoe is currently favourite to land the Mayfair slot, polling 32%, ahead of Dartmoor on 24% and Exeter Cathedral on 19%.
