THE modern languages department at Tavistock College organised a variety of events recently in celebration of the annual 'European Day of Languages'.
They activities included a guest speaker in assembly and a Eurovision-style singing and dancing extravaganza for Year 7s filmed by teachers and judged by Year 8 students.
The competition was enjoyed by everyone who participated and by the audience.
There were six entries — Cucurachini performed 'El Cucurucho', an energetic Spanish version of the well-known 'Okey Cokey'; Les Muppets performed 'Si tu as de la joie au Coeur'; a French version of 'If You're Happy and You Know It'; the Samurais performed a Japanese song, 'Panda, usagi, koala', making their own face masks; Un Deux Trois performed the French 'Alouette'; Los Lobos gave a rendition of 'La Bamba' with some air guitar work, and El Equipo kept everyone entertained with their performance of the 'Waka Waka' song.
