Chairman's Cup semi-final
Lamerton 1
St Dominick 1
Lamerton won 5-4 on penalties
THIS game held at Launceston proved a tense affair, the final result being decided after 120 minutes of play and a dramatic penalty shoot-out.
St Dominick took the lead from a close-range header. Lamerton then got into the game, but it took two good saves from Tony Jones to keep the deficit to one goal at half-time.
From then on Lamerton got stronger and equalised when Andy Coe slotted home from a Will Cann through-ball.
With Coe and man of the match Paul Breyley commanding in midfield and Sean Cann dangerous up front Lamerton pushed forward but the score remained 1-1 at full time.
Extra time followed with the golden goal rule in operation and Lamerton came closest when a dipping shot from Andy Bartlett hit the underside of the crossbar.
Penalties ensued, some good, some bad and some downright ugly. Phil Credicott, Andy Williams, Jimmy Cole and Paul Breyley were successful for Lamerton, but it took the 16th penalty, taken by Matt Wills, to win the match and gain a place in the final.
