IT was another disappointing afternoon for supporters and players, as once again the Lambs gifted three goals to their opponents through basic errors in defence, against a Falmouth side that recorded their tenth consecutive victory. The Falmouth contingent agreed that this was the hardest game they have encountered during this incredible run of success.
The opening period was even and in the ninth minute a shot from Sullivan was blocked and the ball fell to Tavistock's Andy Sargent but he sliced his shot wide of the target. Soon after Martyn Sullivan shot inches wide of the far post with the visiting goal keeper well beaten.
In the 20th minute after some fine play in midfield released the Lambs' Ben Davies on the right, and his fierce cross low into the six yards was inches out the reach of both Sargent and Wyatt as they raced in on goal. Jamie Ahearn then came to the rescue of the Lambs when he headed a fierce shot from Vercesi for a corner kick.
It was the visitors that took the lead in the after the home defence failed to clear their lines. A sliced clearance fell kindly to Ian Hodges who headed the ball down to Vercesi to fire home from 12 yards.
The visitors second was even more of a gift than the first when a poor square ball from Quinn was picked up by Dan Green and with the home defence caught completely out of position - his cross found Vercesi at the far post for the easiest of tasks to head home from three yards. The Lambs continued to try and reduce the deficit but the scored remained at 0-2 at the interval.
The Lambs came out with more purpose in the second half and they almost scored after a fine run by Wyatt down the right, but unfortunately his cross was too deep and went for a goal kick.
Ten minutes into the half the home team scored. Sustained pressure resulted in three consecutive corner kicks, and the visitors' defence only half cleared the third, the ball fell to Michael Landricombe who squared it across goal for Andy Sargent to rise at the far post and head home.
It was the home team that was on top at this stage and wasted two good chance to equalise when Dean Southcott sliced his shot wide of the target before from a free-kick by Paul Quinn was headed inches wide by Michael Landricombe.
Andy Meeds then produced a great save to deny the visitors from increasing their lead, before another attack saw a shot from Sullivan go wide of the target.
Then another defensive mistake allowed Vercesi to complete his hat-trick. Matt David slipped and failed to clear his lines, hitting the ball straight to the forward who fired home from 16 yards.
The home team then threw everything at Falmouth and it was no surprise when Dean Southcott calmly chipped the ball over the onrushing Jason Chapman, after being released by Ben Davies.
The visiting spectators had to endure a nervous end as the home side lay siege on their goal, but with some dogged defending they managed to hang on to maintain the run of victories.
Tavistock really did deserve to get at least a draw against high flying Falmouth.

TAVISTOCK Reserves, who have not had a fixture for a fortnight, recorded a good win at Wadebridge.
The first half was a none event with the team struggling to get their game back to the standard shown prior to the break.
The second half saw most of the action, and it was a long ball over the top of the Wadebridge defence that resulted in Jason Keatley giving away a free kick and being the last man he was red carded. Steve Greenaway drilled the free kick through the defensive wall into the net to secure victory, in a closely fought game.
