Tavistock 1

Elburton 0

THE Lambs got off to a good start and attacked the visiting defence, putting them under a great deal of pressure early on.

In the fifth minute the home side should have taken the lead, when Dalley was brought down just outside the penalty area, but Sullivan shot from the restart as the resultant free-kick went over the bar.

Dave Hallett then provided a great through ball to Landricombe, who lobbed the ball over the advancing keeper only to see it go just over the bar.

Hallett and Pethick then combined well, and found the advancing Landricombe in the penalty area and he finished with aplomb firing past the keeper.

In the 22nd minute, ball broke loose in the visitors penalty area and fell to Dalley who shot over.

The Elburton centre half was lucky to stay on the pitch after a horrendous tackle on Dan Pethick. Unfortunately Pethick reacted and both players received a yellow card.

Elburton had their first real thread on the home goal in the 25th minute when Lee Harvey shot over.

Both Landricombe and Pethick had chances to increase the lead before half-time, but to no avail.

Elburton came out with more purpose in the second half and took the game to the Lambs.

The home defence stood firm during this 10 minute onslaught.

The Lambs got their game back together and looked like they had regained their composure until in the 66th minute. Elburton were awarded a penalty after Dalley had brought down the visitors winger in the penalty area.

However, the visitors failed to convert as the ball thundered against the bar.

Things got worse for the Lambs when Ryan Fice was sent off for a robust challenge, even though, it appeared he clearly won the ball.

Elburton made the man advantage tell and dominated the last 20 minutes with the home goal under siege. However with some luck and resolute defending the defence held firm for the Lambs to take all three points in their fight to move up the league table.
