THE Lambs' slide down the table continues with this consecutive defeat. They were down to the bare bones of a side — having lost both Andy Meeds and Nathan Blamey through suspension — but welcomed back Sean Cann from illness to lead the attack.

The Lambs had the advantage of a strong wind in their backs for the first half but despite creating several chances could only go in at the interval with just one goal to the good.

Paul Smith, Cann, Paul Adcock and Craig Hodge all went close before the Lambs got their goal 5 minutes prior to the break.

Adcock's run down the wing and cross was partially cleared by Alex Mackie to the edge of the area for Adrian Payne to coolly place it back out of reach of keeper Annear.

The Lambs attacked for the remainder of the half looking for a second goal cushion to take into the second period but could not find it with Cann going close again.

One goal never looked to be enough against the wind and the Magpies soon got themselves back on level terms with just 6 minutes of the second period elapsed.

A poor clearance out of defence only found May to let in Dave Burt to slip the ball under Craig Howells. Hodge then cleared off the Lambs line from a visitors' corner before Darren Babb saw his shot go wide.

But it was not until the last 10 minutes that it all went wrong for the Lambs when 2 goals in a minute saw the visitors get the upper hand.

Poor clearances out of defence were their undoing as Burt capitalised to shoot past Howells on each occasion and finally got his fourth from a breakaway to tap home from close range.

To add to the Lambs' woes Cann received his marching orders after a dust up in the centre circle in an off the ball incident.
