Carlsberg South Western League
Liskeard 1
Tavistock 4
THE Lambs regained top spot with this hard fought victory.
Apart from an early attempt from Paul Adcock that keeper Ian Baker saved easily the Lambs did little to trouble him for most of the half but showed their opponents how to score a minute before the break.
Adcock dispossessed Steve Thompson to allow Paul Smith to cut in from the left and shoot home with a low drive.
The Lambs attack woke up in the second half and could have increased their lead but Baker clawed away a far post header by Jeff Babb.
The Lambs doubled their score when Nathan Blamey?s long free kick went behind defenders and keeper for Adcock to ghost in from a wide position and lift the ball over Baker.
But the Blues were soon back in the game as Andy Sargeant shot home from 20 yards. It was the signal for the Lambs to change personnel as Wayne Crow and Simon Parnell were replaced by Lee Beer and Lee Doncaster.
Doncaster?s first touch was straight at the keeper then
Harvey headed straight at Meeds and the keeper did well to keep the Lambs in the lead as he tipped over a Darren Gilbert effort.
The Lambs put their noses further in front on 83 minutes. Doncaster made no mistake as Adcock?s persistence allowed him to go across the area and roll the ball under the advancing Baker.
Finally the mint sauce was added to the Lambs? performance when from a James Cole throw in Doncaster worked himself into the area and from an acute angle toe-poked his effort past a startled Liskeard defence.
l This Saturday the Lambs are away to Callington at the Marshfield with a 2.30pm kick-off. The P&D side are home to Prince Rock in the Premier League, 2.30pm kick-off.
