Carlsberg South Western League Falmouth Town 3 Tavistock 0 THE Lambs pulled the final curtain down on a season that most of the faithful will want to forget. Fortunate for them was that only a couple made the trip to Bickland Park to witness this twentieth defeat of the campaign. They were missing Will Westlake, Paul Adcock, Pete Southcott and Craig Hodge but had local lads Dave Hallett and Ben Camara with Pete Gibson stepping up from the P & W D side. It was a good start for them with Camara just being robbed of the ball in the area in the first minute to prevent him getting a shot in. The home side were then guilty of missing several chances before Hallet shot wide and Mark Conday just failed to get on the end of a Alan Yendall high through ball. But Falmouth finally found the target on the half hour mark. Too much close play at the back saw them dispossessed by Liam Dent to pass to an unmarked Mike Roberts 12 yards out to slot the ball wide of Andy Meeds. Conday had a chance 10 minutes later when he rushed onto a Fergus Nevin free kick only to half volley just over the bar. More confusion in the Lambs? defence a minute later saw Roberts get his shot in but Yendall was well placed to clear off the line. Conday and Yendall combined again for the latter to glance a header wide and when keeper Duncan Ayres poor kick out Conday shot wide. It was not going to be Conday?s day when a through ball from Hallett saw him get a touch to clip the ball over Ayres, but it lacked power to enable Rob Francis to clear off the line. Ten minutes into the second half Falmouth got their second when the ball shot through John Gosling?s legs to leave Meeds stranded. But the home side wrapped up the game just after the hour when Crocker latched onto a through ball. Despite the challenge by Gibson to coolly lob Meeds, Camara saw his shot saved at the foot of a post before sub Jake Ash shot wide from an acute angle with colleagues better placed to score. The Lambs have failed to get a point from their last three games to leave Callington to get four points in their last two games to go above them. The last game of the season sees the Lambs? Plymouth and West Devon side take on the Friendship Inn in the Active Alarms Challenge Bowl Final on Saturday at Weston Mill with a 6.30pm kick off. Tavistock A F C will be holding their end of season presentation and dinner at the Astor Hotel on Saturday, June 11. Some spaces still available.
