Carlsberg South Western League
Tavistock . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .2
Bodmin . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 2
THE Lambs were without Lee Beer and Lee Cansfield but welcomed Jason Carwardine with John Gosling and Nathan Blamey passing late fitness tests to start.
It was an even opening with Andy Parnowski having a shot blocked in the Lambs first attack and Tavistock's keeper Andy Meeds blocking a shot.
Two controversial penalty awards were the talking points of the game and the first one came in the 8th minute.
Jeff Babb was put through and as he headed for goal. Bodmin defender Paul Walters tackled him from behind to send him sprawling and the referee awarded a penalty much to the annoyance of the home side and their supporters.
The delay did not put off Anthony Thirlby as he sent keeper Dave Philp the wrong way.
On 15 minutes the Lambs thought they had increased their lead as Babb moved forward to glance a header wide of Philp only to be adjudged offside.
But 5mins later they got their second, a sweeping move from defence caused Bodmin to concede a corner and from James Cole's kick Parnowski found himself unchallenged to head downwards and completely deceive Philp.
Tavistock could have wrapped this game up before half time but Babb was unlucky as his shot went wide with Philp well beaten.
The home side came out for the second half determined to claw their way back into the game but on the hour Babb went clear again and once again the ball went the wrong side of the post.
That let off allowed Bodmin back into the game when pressure finally told as the ball fell kindly for Daniel Nancarrow to lob over Meeds.
In the 70th minute they drew level but it was a very harsh decision that had the Lambs voicing their disgust.
Luke Hodge and Darren Babb both went for a centre, a hand went up and Babb was adjudged to be the offender.
The Lambs were adamant that it was Hodge who was the guilty party.
Such was the protest that it resulted in brother Jeff getting a red card for saying something unkind to the referee.
Hodge made no mistake with the spot kick.
Tavistock made three substitutions in the closing minutes with Craig Hodge replacing Carwardine, Chris Gott and Rob Hawkins taking over from Mark Wall and Thirlby and the game ended in a draw and controversy with the Lambs showing their displeasure at both officials and Luke Hodge.
The Lambs remain unbeaten after five games but unfortunately four of them have been drawn.
