Carlsberg South Western League Penryn 3 Tavistock 2 THE Lambs? season of woe continues with another narrow defeat that leaves them anchored next to bottom in the league. Despite being without both Paul Adcock and Captain Alan Yendall they got off to the perfect start at Kernick Road. The Lambs faced driving wind and rain in the first half and there were only seven minutes on the clock when John Gosling got into the area only to see his shot blocked. But he was able to combine with James Steer to send in a low cross that saw both Daniel Fadida and Will Westlake lay claim to have sent it over the line for the opener. The home side drew level with their first real attack on 20 minutes. A long clearance out from defence saw Dave Wilkinson get his head to it and Andy Meeds parried it to the by-line for it to be turned back in across goal for Shane D? Cotta to smash home from close range. Ten minutes later the home side got themselves back in front. Neil Kennedy?s free kick was headed back across goal and James Miller got the final touch to send it in via the post. Meeds saved from Wilkinson before Westlake headed wide from a Gosling cross just prior to the interval. The second half started in dramatic fashion as the Lambs lost possession from the kick off with Meeds having to save from Wilkinson to save his side?s embarrassment. Good work from Fadida and Westlake gave Mark Conday a great chance to draw level five minutes later but the cross came to him at speed and he could only fire wide. But seven minutes later they were back on level terms. Meeds? kick out from goal was not dealt with and a weak back pass allowed Westlake to steal in and slot passed stand in keeper D? Cotta. Parity was short lived when the home side got themselves ahead for the second time. From a corner Wilkinson?s effort was blocked by Meeds and the following clearance only found the edge of the area for Damon Mulready to send in a low shot through a crowd of players and into the far corner. Both sides had chances in the last 20 minutes with Wilkinson shooting over for the home side and Westlake twisting and turning in the area saw his effort go wide and then a scramble in the Penryn goal saw the ball cleared. The final chance for the Lambs fell deep into time added on when Cann skipped past two challenges only to see D?Cotta bring off a great save to deny the substitute. The last action of the day saw Steve Jewell miss from the spot after Steve Proctor had been brought down. Yet another disappointing result for the Lambs.
