SOUTH West Lakes Trust, which manages Roadford Lake, has been commended for its commitment to promoting good age practices within its workforce. The charity received the award at the Age Positive Awards 2006 at London?s Banqueting Hall. Presented by Angela Rippon, the awards recognise employers who have adopted good employment practices in age diversity and individuals who are defying ageist stereotypes. South West Lakes Trust office manager Lyn Watts attended the ceremony and said the trust was delighted to hear it had been commended: ?The trust allows employees and trustees to work until 75, if they wish, and in our experience age is no barrier to performance. ?We are proud of our diverse workforce which ranges from those aged 16 right through to people well into their 60s.? l The Lakeside complex has been highly commended in a local Building of the Year Award. Lakeside has one of the area?s more unusual visitor centres, based on an ancient roundhouse design. It also has an IT suite which is open to the general public and which has recently been the venue for the launch of a local oral history project. The tearooms and gift shop, which have been on the site for approximately 15 years, complete the South West Lakes Trust Lakeside building.
