TAVISTOCK Bowls Club ladies' league team played two matches last week, winning both rinks against Oreston, picking up all six points.

The best rink was that of Yvonne Meneer, Jenny Tremaine, Hazel Lovell and Jean Flay.

Against Yealmpton, however, they only managed to win on one rink, so picking up only two points.

The men would have settled for one winning rink in their two league matches, losing all but one rink in both matches.

Some consolation was the result against Devonport Park which puts them in the semi-finals of the Littelton, a good rink success for Roy Northam, Malcolm Bloomer, Sandy Sanders and David Perry.

Their next opponents are Plymouth Police, to be played shortly on a neutral green.

Two mixed friendly matches were played, resulting in one win and one loss. Plympton were beaten thanks to Roy Northam and his rink of Arthur Worth, Wendy Bloomer and John Wilkinson.

Barnstaple were the visitors on Saturday and although the home club won three of the six rinks they lost the match overall.

Club competitions are progressing well. The men's pairs final will be contested between Mike Allen and Roy Gill who will play Norman Paramor and Derek Bradford.

Monday club nights are proving popular, anyone interested in learning to play would be more than welcome to come along. Club instructor Mike Allen is in attendance most Monday evenings.
