Plymouth Albion Ladies RFC 32

Tavistock Ladies RFC 10

CONSIDERING there has been so much rain recently the pitch was in excellent condition, making it a fast running game, which unfortunately suited Albion more than Tavistock — they certainly proved their fitness and were always fast to capitalise on quick penalties.

The game started at a fast and furious pace and although a lot of time was spent in the Albion half, Tavistock were unlucky not to open the scoring.

Albion took every opportunity to spread the ball wide making it difficult for the Tavistock pack to work as a unit. It also meant that all the backs had to put in some huge tackles. About half-time Albion were 20 points ahead.

Tavistock never gave up and were eventually rewarded with a try by Chris Staniland which came from a move off the back of a scrum. The second try for Tavistock came from a near pass from prop Claire White to winger Boo Colton, who outpaced her opposite number to score in the corner.

There was a period during the second half when Tavistock were down to 14 players when Claire White had an enforced rest for ten minutes. Fortunately Albion were unable to make the most of this opportunity.

All of the team played exceptionally well. Colton was picked as player of the match, showing enormous commitment and potential.

The next league match will be at home to Devonport on Sunday December 10 at 2.30pm.
